Ask Richard about autism.
It’s Autism Awareness Month and I’m kicking it off by sharing some recent work I completed for a new client, Ask Richard.
Richard Ibbotson has worked in the autism field for almost 30 years and came to me looking to build his own brand and go out on his own.
Over the years I’ve worked with several organisations and professionals in the autism industry and love the conversations that we have surrounding the learning and understanding of communication between people.
It doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes things get complicated because people believe that it can never be that simple. Listening is one of those. Implementing the correct steps is another.
As always I like to have a chat with new clients and ask a million questions. It was during one of many calls that I came up with the brand name.
We narrowed down what he wanted to focus on delivering, which was the autism, the skills and the knowledge to arm people with the information that they needed to understand and progress.
It was later reading my notes that three words stood out: autism, skills, knowledge. The lightbulb moment was when I recognised the first three letters of each made up the word ‘ask’. And so the idea was sparked.
I knew for sure the brand had to be about Richard and how people buy into him and the experience he has to offer so it had to be personal. And what’s more personal than your own name?
So Ask Richard was born.
It made sense as there are so many questions people have when it comes to autism. Everyone is different. Everyone’s experience is different. Everyone’s needs are different.
Sparking the conversation and the questions that need to be asked and addressed is the main objective of the brand. It’s that simple.
We’re looking forward to building on the brand and the start of many conversations.
